Breaking the Silence: Part II

As for his claim of being the 1st to grow plants for essential oils in North America, that patently untrue, since the university of Purdue has had a study program of growing and distilling essential oils long before Gary ever thought of becoming involved with aromatherapy. Who was it that made Gary the foremost authority in North America on aromatherapy? Gary gave himself the claim to fame after a marketer was hired in Spokane to improve the image of Young Living.

In 1993 the family was in Salt Lake at the home of Mary, Gary’s fiancé. She handed them a piece of paper and asked them what they thought of Gary’s new biography that she had written up.

The family was appalled. None of it was true but she insisted that it was. She grinned and said the story gained empathy and will sell.

When asked how she could write a life sketch when had only known him for six months, she just smiled and said "It doesn’t matter. Everyone will come to believe it is true."

Good as her word people have bought into his story "hook, line and sinker". You will find this false story on the Missing Link tape, on the Internet and in his meetings. No one ever questions him, people want so bad to believe in someone or something when they are ill that they will believe anything that shows strength and healing especially if they can relate to it.

the story of How Valor, Present Time, Dragon Time came to be YL formulas

In 1992, a convention for Young Living was being held and, the instructors sponsored were from France (Due to being burned by GY, these people have requested that their name be left out in any publication with any reference to YL). After the convention, Gary, his wife, the French instructors and two others were having a meeting that didn't go very well.

In the meeting Gary lost his temper and started to call one of the instructors derogatory names. The insulted Instructor proceeded to demand to see Gary's student manual and to have his formula back and to have his name removed from the manual. When asked which formula? He replied "Gary came to France and asked me for a formula for a family member. I gave specific instructions that he could not sell  the formula and that it was not to be exploited without my permission and it had to have my name on it". Which Formula? The one for Valor!

As for having his name removed from the manual the instructor said this ; " What he has in that manual my is research and information and is using my name without permission. "

Gary got mad and said the meeting was over and to take the French instructors back to their hotel. On the way back to the hotel, the insulted Frenchman said that he had learned a valuable lesson, to not be so trusting of Americans. He was not going to pursue the issue as the blend was now adulterated as far as he was concerned. (It was during this time that Gary was informed about the about wrong lavender plants)

Present Time; a gentleman out of Seattle made the blend for himself during a meeting.  After teaching the methods of blending,  each person was told to make a personal blend that would help with a personal issue. The man was a student and needed to stay in the present for the exams. It was such a lovely aroma that it made one fully relaxed.

The teacher then was talking with Gary one day and was asked how the training was going and what the students had been doing. The teacher proceeded to share with him the blend.

Gary asked for the recipe, he said he wanted to try something, he went into his oil room and came back 10 minutes later and said what do you think? The teacher replied that  "this is Mr.------'s blend, what are you going to do with it?"

Gary replied "I am going to call it "Present Time".  The teacher protested saying that the recipe belonged to the man in the class, to which he replied "What will he do with it, nothing!" Two weeks later "Present Time" hit the market.

Dragon time is one of the blends that his second wife created and Gary kept the recipe when he left her. She is an intelligent woman and she created many blends for Gary.
