Flower Essences: Beyond Aromatherapy |
||
| INDEX | ||
|
Flower Essences can drastically change any type of these
problems, but they do it gently (examples--grief issues, life
and death transitions, love--yourself and for others, depression,
loosing weight, addictions, wanting to open psychic abilities,
getting along with people, shyness, self-awareness, helping to focus
on studies, etc.).
So how does one choose the right essence? There are many ways. Some people will choose a particular essence because it's the one they plant every year in the garden, or it might be the one they buy for vases to cheer up their house, or even just because it makes them smile. For these people that particular flower probably has something for them. If they want to find out more information about this particular essence, they can look it up in one of the many books on flower essences or, if it has not been made into an essence yet, then they can sit quietly with the flower and listen to it. The flower might evoke certain memories, or make one feel energized or tranquil. One can attune themselves to the flower and listen to their own instincts.When someone listens to a plant for the first time, they may feel that all the thoughts and feelings coming from the flower are "just in my head", but it's not the case, the flower is truly communicating. Another way that a particular essence is chosen is by those who are already very comfortable with essential oils and will choose their oils almost by instinct when they need it. These people will find it easy to develop an instinctive style of choosing their particular Essence. A third type of person is the "by the book" person. This is the type that buys every book they can get their hands on, inhaling them one by one. For this type there are many good books to be had, but they can be harder to find than a good book on essential oils or herbs. I list some books at the end of this article. There is also a wonderful quarterly magazine called Essence of Nature (subscription information at the end of the article). However, essential oils have been scientifically tested and their chemical make up recorded. We know what oil constituents work on what type of problem. We do NOT know, scientifically, what flower essences work on. To my knowledge, there has not been any chemical analysis done on any essences, as essences are basically water and brandy. All information on essences has been collected by observation through usage such as the case studies done for over 50 years by Dr. Bach’s company. FES, the Flower Essence Services Company, has been in business since the 1970’s and is geared to research through their own case studies and those of other companies, practitioners and researchers. Those doing research via companies will find that one company will describe their essence one way, and another company will say something totally different about the same Essence. Examples: FES company says their rosemary assists those who feel insecure in their physical bodies and helps to feel physically warm and vibrant. Harebell of Scotland says its rosemary is for active remembering, to strengthen the power of recall and for linking heart and mind.According to Gurudas, rosemary stimulates the pineal gland and crown chakra. It is a liquid ambrosia because one experiences a state of inner peace or ecstasy. It brings out creativity. |
We (White Shemn Texas Native Flower Essences) have found our rosemary to be festive and magical, to bring joy, power, transformation and also protection. It allows you to have higher feelings. So, does this mean that only one company can be right and the others wrong? Does this seeming conflict preclude you from using rosemary at all? No to both questions. Each of these rosemary essences comes from different parts of the world, they each could have been made during different times of the year, and they each have had their “messages” filtered through a human being. Sometimes the needs and energy of the maker will flow through the essence, sometimes it depends on the companies own point of view, in other words, some companies will concentrate on the spiritual aspect, others will concentrate on the mental or physical aspect. So, each description is valid. This is where your intuition and knowledge and practice comes into play. Once you are comfortable with the company you have chosen, start experimenting with essences from other companies.Just as there are many brands of essential oils, there are many brands of flower essences and you need to see which ones work best for you. Perhaps you will find one company that suits all your purposes and you feel comfortable with their products and no need to look further. Then you need not look further. However, if you don’t at least investigate other companies, I believe you are shutting yourself off from a whole new adventure, as each company will offer new and different products, from Environmental Essences to Butterfly essences and more. So have a good look around and enjoy your learning process and your journey of discovery! ***** Reference Material: General Books Flower Essences and Vibrational Healing by Gurudas Flowers That Heal by Patricia Kaminski Flower Remedies by Peter Mansfield Flower Essences for Animals by Lila Devi Specific Company Books: Alaskan Flower Essence Project 2001-02 by Steve Johnson Amazonian Orchid and Gem Essences by Andreas Korte Australian Bush Flower Remedies Reference Guide by Vasudeva & Kadambi Barnao Bach Flower Therapy by Mechthild Scheffer The Essences of Healing-2nd edition by Steve Johnson Essential Flower Essence Handbook by Lila Devi Findhorn Flower Essences by Findhorn community Magazine subscription: Essence of Nature-A Magazine of Flower, Gem and Vibrational Essences 1-800-343-8693 |
