M Penders with "Sea Angel" (scroll down for nine more paintings)

M. Penders talks about a couple of favorite scents.
"A favorite scent, next to that of money, which to an artist is rarer than knowledgeable critics, is the scent of freesias and hyacinths. Freesias and hyacinths are the scent of Spring.
One of the best fragrances is unfortunately extremely rare in these days of smog and pollution; autumn bonfires and crisp leaves trodden underfoot. Now a bonfire will get you a fine and leaves are composted. But those scents, sometimes borne on a errant wind, take me back to the Maryland of many years ago where bonfires burned on every block and blue skies were taken for granted."
M. Penders works in watercolors near the city of Olympia Washington and is a member of the prestigious Loft Studio.
