As an avid herbalist it's hard for me to choose among aromatics. There's so many that have a rich tradition and even richer aroma to tantalize my imagination. For example, lavender inspires gentle thoughts and calm, rose motivates the romantic nature in my old bones, and vetivert that magickally changes it's scent to match whomever wears it! For me, choosing one scent is kind of like being put in a candy shoppe and having to take only one sweet!

But since we must have one, I'd have to choose ginger. There's something zesty, sexy, and warm about it that I just can't resist. It reminds me of early fall mornings in the Adirondacks at my grandmother's house when she'd make spice bread. The aroma of ginger would waft up the stairs and nudge even the most stalwart of individuals out of warm beds to sneak a bite or two (actually, I think that was her plan all along!).

I love using ginger as part of massage oils (especially on broad shoulders), in incense designed to improve my energy when I feel like a wet-noodle, in brewing apple-ginger beer for cold winter days, or dabbed on light bulbs to light up the whole house with it's wonderful cookie-like smell. I mean, who can resist cookies <lol>?! Humm.. maybe it's time to make a personal perfume!
