Website review: http://www.Aroma-essence.com

This is, at best, a horrible website. The spelling is atrocious ("atmosfear?"), the grammar is appalling, the graphics are blurred and clearly done by an amateur who doesn't know what spell check is for. Unlike the one Young Living website that was reviewed a couple of years ago, which at least had pretty pictures to look at to help relieve the tedium of  the "same old-same old" hype dished out by that crowed, this has nothing of value to recommend it.

As with all Young Living sites, they offer supplements, tooth paste, children's products, their ever famous "Wolf Berry" juice and of course their over-hyped, over-priced mystery oils. Their oils of course are the only ones worth buying, the purest quality, yada-yada-yada.

Once again, when buying any oils from this site or any other Young Living site, no botanical names are offered, no indication where the plants have been harvested and one has no idea of what they are getting. The only thing you can be sure of is that one is paying two to three times the price of Essential Oils from reputable and trusted retailers. There is one atrocity that I haven't mentioned. This one is a doozy. One of their favored recommended practices is to tell you how to ingest your oils. This is illegal and called practicing medicine without a license. Not to mention of course, horrifying.

I checked out a few of their oils and their advice:

Wintergreen: "dilute before applying to skin or taking internally"

Rose: 5 ml 149.75 (preferred customer price)....

Sandalwood: Possible skin sensitivity.  Dilution not required; suitable for all but the most sensitive skin. Generally safe for children over 2 years of age.

Clove: When using as a supplement, dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of vegetable oil and put into capsule. Then take one capsule before each meal or as desired. Again with the internal usage. Always dilute before applying to the skin or taking internally. Question is, is this Clove leaf? Clove Bark? Clove from the grocery store? Who knows? Young Living ain't telling!

These are only a few examples. It goes on ad nauseam. Of course I didn't mention how they try and tie everything into religion to try and dupe the desperately seeking folk. That's just reprehensible, but that's Young Living for you!

These days they have a few new buzz words... "ORAC" and "micromole Trolox equivalent per liter". Sounds impressive doesn't it? Do you know what they mean? No? Hey no worries mate, most of THEM don't know either and they toss the words around so easily that it makes one too embarrassed to ask. I didn't know and I'm no slouch in the vocabulary department.

It's a system of measuring anti-oxidants in FOOD, with blue berries and small red beans being at the top. Did I mention that this was developed for FOOD?  The USDA has a list of one hundred different food sources that have ORAC values which have now been changed to micromoles of Trolox equivalents. The highest value is for 1/2 a cup of small red beans at 13727. Funny enough, the anti-oxidants in Young Living's essential oils register in the MILLIONS (Ylang Ylang 1,300,478, Clove 10,786,875, Fennel 2,383,680). No wonder they keep telling you to suck the stuff down, it's the only way it will do any good... or it will kill you. Perhaps they live by the philosophy of "That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Friedrich Nietzsche". For more information on ORAC and anti-oxident food values (FOOD values!) try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_Radical_Absorbance_Capacity

So what does this mean for Essential Oils? Absolutely NOTHING! One is not supposed to EAT EO's! This is nothing more than marketing hype.

After wracking my brain trying to come up with SOMETHING positive to say about this website, I finally found something. This is the perfect website to learn from. You don't want to do anything with your website that they do with theirs.
