The Mother Flask now is filled with the lavender flowers and Danilla is making sure there's enough water to start the distillation process.

Here is the complete set up. The flask with the water is boiled. The steam goes into the Mother flask with the Lavender flowers. The Mother Flask is insulated to keep the heat in so the steam can heat the flower, keep them hot so they can release the oil which is then carried by steam into the tube on the left side and into the smaller flask on the left.

The large glass tube is a double tube. The inside tube carries the steam and oil and the outside tube holds circulating water to keep it from getting too hot.

The pump that circulates the water in the tubes is kept in ice cold water to stay cool.
