Breaking the Silence: A member of Gary Young's Inner Circle Speaks Out
-page2-This area lies deep in the canyons below Sleeping Deer Lookout, vehicles could not go any further so an eight, mile journey on foot and horseback took you to base camp. A beautiful crystal clear stream held landlocked salmon and rainbow trout the size of ones forearm, the water was so pure one could "belly up to the stream" and drink the cool sweet water. Craggy cliffs rose sharply upwards on the banks of this stream. From these majestic cliffs hot water cascaded off the face of them falling into pools at the bottom near the creek. The pools were used for bathing or washing dishes.
Donald Young taught each one of his children to catch the salmon with their bare hands, fish with homemade poles, then as they grew older to use professional poles.
He taught them how to wild craft herbs and how to use them. Each day was always a new adventure as they would hike, rock hound, swim, fish and play games with the family.
In the winter the ranch was the perfect spot for family winter sports; such as snowball fights, sledding and tobogganing. There was a hill on the ranch that reputed to be the best and most awesome toboggan run in the area.
Every Saturday, the towns people would come to play on the hill, Donald would make �mogules� for the children while Dolly would make hot chocolate.
The parents showed by example to be of service to others and not to always expect payment in return and they tried to teach their children the most important things in life are values and virtue.However Gary didn�t learn these lessons. Gary was the first son born a year and a half after the death of Donald and Dolly's second daughter; her death was due to complications from pneumonia. Donald and Dolly, were too lenient with Gary. He was allowed to exercise his bad temper on his siblings, nor he was not taught to be accountable for his actions.
As a child Gary was a gifted storyteller, many of his peers even adults believed the tales he told. More than once, his brothers and sisters got the blame and the punishment for things Gary had done. His only response was to laugh and say "it serves you right!" Even today, people believe the lies he tells about how he and his siblings were abused and while Donald
